“Teen Violence Shocks Highland Village: 16-Year-Old Arrested for Shooting 17-Year-Old”

A 16-year-old suspect is in custody following a shooting incident on Friday evening (Feb. 2, 2025) that left a 17-year-old injured in Highland Village, Texas. The incident occurred around 7:05 p.m. in a parking lot near 3198 Justin Road, according to the Highland Village Police Department.

Details of the Shooting

The shooting took place while the 17-year-old victim and his 16-year-old friend were sitting in a vehicle. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a white truck.

The injured teen was transported to Medical City Denton for treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Suspect Apprehended Without Incident

Authorities identified the 16-year-old suspect with assistance from the Corinth Police Department. A Corinth police officer persuaded the suspect to meet with authorities, leading to a peaceful arrest without incident.

The suspect was taken into custody by Highland Village police and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was then transferred to the Denton County Juvenile Detention Center.

During the investigation, officers discovered suspected narcotics in the vehicle where the shooting victim and his friend were seated. Additionally, three handguns were recovered from the vehicle that transported the suspect to the Corinth Police Department.
